Glencoe In Winter

Winter in Glencoe
I've been twice up to Glencoe ski resort this winter, a surreal place with a unique ski community who travel from across the country in short notice to scavenge the limited skiing the UK has to offer. Beers and campfires in the car park with likeminded ski bums is as much a part of the trip as the skiing itself. Particularly when the forecasted snowstorms reveal themselves as 100mph rainstorms that threaten to tip your van while you sleep (so much for the fire this evening...)
However, when the snow happens and the wind is low, it's something very special and well worth the wait. The backcountry is breath taking. Skiing off the back off the mountain with hares running through the snow and a rainbow in the sky, popping off every little grass pillow on the way down was my personal highlight. The Scottish definitely have a questionable standard as to what classifies as 'Full cover' on a run but dodging rocks and streams is all part of the fun!
My pictures below are from both trips, some are taken further down the Glencoe valley on days where the lifities called it off.
